What Is Domiciliary (Home) Care?
Domiciliary (Home) Care enables individuals to remain in the comfort of their own homes while receiving professional support tailored to their needs. It is ideal for those who value their independence but would benefit from additional help to manage daily activities safely and confidently.
At Aemilius Care, we understand that every person’s situation is unique. Our carers take time to learn about personal routines, preferences, and goals to ensure each visit feels respectful, supportive, and familiar. Whether someone needs short daily check‑ins or more regular help throughout the week, we create flexible plans shaped entirely around their lifestyle.
Home Care is especially helpful for:
- Individuals recovering after illness or hospital stays
- Older adults who want to remain independent at home
- Anyone needing help with daily routines or managing health‑related tasks
- Families looking for companionship and wellbeing support for loved ones
We focus on comfort, dignity, and continuity — ensuring each visit brings reassurance, connection, and meaningful support.
Get To Know Our Services
At Aemilius Care, we offer a wide range of compassionate, person-centred support designed to help individuals live safely, confidently, and independently at home. Each service expands into its own dedicated page when clicked.

Reablement & Rehabilitation Support
We work closely with NHS and community rehabilitation teams to support recovery following illness, injury, or a hospital stay. Our carers help individuals regain mobility, confidence, and independence at home through structured routines and gentle rehabilitation support.

Complex / Specialist Support
For individuals with long-term conditions, neurological illness, mobility challenges, or advanced care needs, we offer one-to-one specialist support aligned with district nurse and community healthcare plans. Care is structured, monitored, and adapted to ensure safety, comfort, and stability.

End-of-Life (EoL) Care
We provide sensitive, dignified support for individuals approaching end-of-life. When appropriate, we coordinate closely with hospice partners (such as Marie Curie) to ensure seamless transitions, emotional support, and compassionate comfort for both the individual and their family.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does Domiciliary (Home) Care include?
Our Home Care includes support with personal care, meals, medication, mobility, companionship, and light household tasks. Each care plan is tailored to the person’s needs, and support levels can be adjusted over time if more help becomes necessary. We prioritise independence and provide assistance that enhances safety, confidence, and wellbeing at home.
We also review care regularly, so if your situation changes — for example, after a hospital stay or health change — we can adapt visits, timings, and tasks to ensure you continue to receive the right level of support.
How quickly can care start?
After your initial enquiry, we arrange a home assessment to understand your needs. Care can often begin within a few days, depending on availability and the complexity of the support required. Urgent requests can sometimes be accommodated sooner.
During the assessment we discuss your preferences, routines, and goals so that when care begins, it already feels familiar and well organised.
Are your carers fully checked and trained?
Absolutely. Every carer is DBS‑checked, fully insured, and receives ongoing training in areas such as safeguarding, personal care techniques, dementia awareness, mobility support, and communication. We ensure all carers meet strict professional and ethical standards.
We also supervise and support our team on an ongoing basis, so carers can access guidance, additional training, and regular check-ins to maintain high standards of care.
Can I choose my visit times?
Yes. We schedule visits around your preferred routine — morning, lunchtime, afternoon, or evening. We aim to provide consistent timings and familiar carers to build trust and continuity.
If your needs or schedule change, we will do our best to adjust visit times so that support always fits comfortably around your day.
Do you support people with mobility or medical needs?
Yes. While Domiciliary Care focuses on everyday support, our trained carers can assist with safe movement, mobility routines, monitoring wellbeing changes, and following healthcare guidance. If advanced medical support is needed, we can help transition to Complex Care.
We always work within clear care plans and, where appropriate, in partnership with healthcare professionals to ensure support remains safe, appropriate, and effective.
Do you cover my area?
Yes — we provide care across Okehampton and nearby villages within a 15‑mile radius. If you’re unsure whether your location is included, feel free to contact us for clarification.
If we are unable to cover your area directly, we will do our best to advise on next steps or signpost you to other suitable services.
How do I get started?
Simply contact us by phone or email to discuss your situation. We’ll talk through your needs, answer any questions, and arrange a free home assessment at a time that suits you. From there, we’ll create a tailored care plan and agree a start date for visits.
